A few years after opening their first shop, and at the beginning of a period of rapid expansion, I started working with OTTO to refine and focus their brand. Design systems (including typographic, color palettes, photographic and illustration guidelines) were established to facilitate rapid and cost-effective deployment of signage, in-store decor, and menus. A comprehensive audit of ownership, management, and staff resulted in a refined mission, messaging, and company story. Brand guidelines were produced to cover all elements of the visual brand and messaging to support in-house content development and 3rd party consultants, and reinforce the brand pillars for ownership and employees. Now, close to 30 shops, I continue to consult on brand requirements for expansion while remaining true to their independent spirit.
